Pi Mu Epsilon National Mathematics Honor Society
Overview
Pi Mu Epsilon is a mathematics society consisting of chapters at various approved institutions of learning, and affiliate chapters at approved non-academic institutions.
As stated in its constitution and by-laws, the purpose of the society is to promote scholarly activity in mathematics among students in academic institutions, and among the staffs of qualified non-academic institutions. It aims to do this by electing members on an honorary basis according to their proficiency in mathematics, by engaging in activities designed to promote the mathematical and scholarly development of its members, and by taking any other measures that will further the purpose stated above.
The University of Toledo chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon (Ohio Gamma) was established in 1936 and was the 32nd chapter ever to be established.
