Homework

Weekly homework will be collected. Your solutions must be neat and show all work. If you do not show your work then you will not receive credit for your solution. I will drop your lowest homework score. No late homework will be accepted,

Academic honesty

You are encouraged to discuss ideas with other students. Nonetheless, every piece of work you turn in must be your own. It will be viewed as cheating if you copy someone's work (homework or exam). Any act of academic dishonesty as de ned by the University of Toledo policy on academic dishonesty (found at http://www.utoledo.edu/dl/students/dishonesty.html will result in an F in the course or an F on the item in question, subject to the determination of the instructor.

Missed Quizzes and Exams

Absences for quizzes and exams can only be excused if covered by the University's missed class policy. The policy specifically mentions absences from class may be excused for personal emergencies, religious observances, participation in certain UT sponsored activities, and government required activities. For
more information see
http://www.utoledo.edu/facsenate/missed_class_policy.html. Arrangements for make up quizzes and exams will only be made if you inform me of the absence without delay by phone or email and present a documented excuse.

Attendance and Classroom behavior:

Attendance is considered mandatory and may be recorded periodically. It may also be a factor (though a minor one) in my decision about whether to make a "discretionary adjustment" in a grade. Unless you have cleared it with me before the lecture or have a very compelling excuse, do not come to class late or leave early and expect to be recorded as attending. Cell phone, Ipad or text messaging is not allowed in class unless you get permission from me to use it.

NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY:

The University of Toledo is committed to a policy of equal opportunity in education, arms the values and goals of diversity.

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES:

The University will make reasonable academic accommodations for students with documented disabilities. Students should
contact the Oce of Academic Access (Rocket Hall 1820; 419.530.4981; officeofacademicaccess@utoledo.edu ) as soon as possible for more information and/or to initiate the process for accessing academic accommodations. For the full policy see:
http://www.utoledo.edu/success/academicaccess/sam/index.html

STUDENT PRIVACY

Federal law and university policy prohibits instructors from discussing a student's grades or class performance with anyone outside of university faculty/sta without the student's written and signed consent. This includes parents and spouses. Written work

We write to communicate. Please bear this in mind as you complete assignments and take exams. Work must be neat and legible to receive consideration. You must explain your work in order to obtain full credit; an assertion is not an answer. For specific suggestions, see A guide to writing in mathematics classes.
