Some facts about Ivanovo:
Ivanovo was created by merging village Ivanovo (first documented in 1561) with the industrial Voznesensky village in 1871. Until 1932, its official name was Ivanovo-Voznesensk.
Population: 406,465 (2008). Weather: on average -15 C in winter and +22 C in summer.
Ivanovo is called the textile capital of Russia.
Once upon the time when the factories have been working (before 1990),
many young women have moved to Ivanovo (most textile workers are women).
So in 1960-ties there have been lots of young adventurous girls in the town, and
Ivanovo has been known as the "City of Brides".
Ivanovo has got one of the largest military airlift bases in Russia,
"Ivanovo Northern".
In Ivanovo there are a lot of stuff reminding us about Soviet times.
Even though it is believed by many that Ivanovo belongs to the Moscow administrative region,
it is not true. It is pretty large to have its own region.
Ivanovo's region is the second poorest or the poorest region in the whole Russia.
