Linear Algebra and its applications 5/e by David C. Lay
We won't be using MyMathLab.
Course Grading
Recommended problems (0%)
Assigned problems (16%)
Midterm Exams (56%)
Final Exam (28%)

Course grades may be curved; but, in any case, will be no stricter than a standard 90/80/70/60 curve. You may check your current score at any time on Blackboard in the "Weighted Total" column, although this may not mean much to you until near the end of the term.
Midterm Grades
Sometime in March, or thereabouts, the University will ask me to provide midterm grades for you. At that point you will have turned in the first two homework assignments and taken the first midterm exam. These assignments amount to about one third of the total course points. Since these "midterm grades" don't really matter (except in the case of failing grades and financial support), your grade will be determined using a strict 90/80/70/60 curve applied to the score found in the "Weighted Total" column in Blackboard at this time. Since there will still be nearly two thirds of the course points outstanding, this midterm grade is a guarantee of neither success nor failure. Treat it as a friendly reminder that you are, in fact, being graded.
Exams
All three exams have equal weight. Note that the Final Exam is not comprehensive. This is good news in that it won't be a brutal exam. On the other hand, it also means that a good score on the final won't be enough to absolve you of any sins commited on the first two exams. You have been warned.
